Earlier today, Leanne and Roz went to a taping of Q at CBC Radio in Toronto. Along the way, Roz got run over by the mailmobile.

Hey gang!
The backstage videos I produced for my favourite radio show ‘The Debaters’ just landed with a splash at cbc.ca! Cameos by Erica Sigurdson, Sabrina Jalees, Teresa Pavlinek and John Wing. Check em out and let me know what you think!
UPDATE: Vids are now available here at the official Debaters YouTube page!
Wow. When it rains it pours. Make hay while the sun shines. When the going gets tough the tough… don’t blog.
What a crazy few weeks it’s been. I know I haven’t been very available lately. In fact - if I was your girlfriend - I believe that you’d now have the right to officially dump me. But before you go dear rozbloggers - before you walk out the door in frustration - let me apologize.
It’s not you, it’s me.
You see, all of the freelance work I do collided and my life exploded.
I appreciate you rozbloggers - I really do. And I vow to make it up to you with a plethora of new posts. In the meantime - my excuses.
A few weeks back I was tapped by CBC Radio to come in and develop a new column for the hit Saturday morning show - ‘GO!’. What followed was a week of complete and utter immersion in the art and science of radio comedy writing… complete with listening exercises and guest speakers. Met the amazing Dan Misener and enjoyed an hour of q&a with him regarding his approach to radio and how he created his successful column ‘Dan the Love Man.’ Funny lad. Young, smart and funny. Such a great combination.
I can’t tell you too much about my new column yet.. but let’s just say my first appearance involves me turning into - the bad girl. I’ll keep you posted.
This past weekend I was hanging out in Montreal with the crew from ‘The Debaters’… filming some funny backstage material with Canada’s best comics, including the incomparable Derek Seguin, Sabrina Jalees and Debra DiGiovanni. I’m cutting the video now and will post a link when it’s up! Not sure yet if it will be released on the Debaters Facebook group or on the Debaters official website. But when I know more, I promise you’ll be next in line!
To top it all off I’m currently working on a treatment for the amazing MaRS Centre in Toronto, having been asked to create an entertainment based 3 minute video for their website.
Good times! Busy… but good. I’ve missed you guys.
Talk soon,
Roz
Just got a heads up from Sheila Peacock at CBC Vancouver. Seems the Ceeb is attempting to make the move into the new millenium with a switch from AM to FM, and they’ve asked for help from therozblog readers!
If you’re in the Metro Vancouver area and are willing to take a few moments to fill out a petition paper, here’s the basic info:
CBC Vancouver has the unique opportunity to move Radio One from the AM dial to the FM dial in the Greater Vancouver area, therefore vastly improving the sound quality and coverage of our Radio One service!
Our application to the CRTC has been approved for public hearings and we have just one week left to show enormous support from listeners in the Lower Mainland in order to convince the CRTC to give us the FM signal. Why move to FM? There are two main reasons.
1. AM reception is very poor in many parts of the Lower Mainland, including the heart of the city in the West End.
2. Tuning to the AM dial is in decline and has been for years.
How can you help?
By sending your written support by email, fax or mail to the CRTC by January 23, 2008. The message doesn’t have to be long, but it does have to be individually written. The CRTC dismisses the “cut and paste” copying of form letters. A few sentences explaining why you value Radio One’s programming and how you would like it to be on the FM dial so you can hear it consistently wherever you are in Metro Vancouver is all that’s required.
To email your support:
Go directly to the form on the CRTC website and click on the button #2007-18.
Then, check the box beside #200714239 (in the list, this is the second CBC application) and go to the bottom of the page and select Next
Follow the instructions to complete your letter of support.
And please remember to also send a copy to CBC of your e-mail at REGULATORYAFFAIRS@CBC.CAWe also have a Facebook page which you can link your own Facebook page to if you’d like.
In order to be successful, we will require hundreds of letters of support, so please pass this information on to everyone you know who values public broadcasting in Greater Vancouver. Again, the deadline is this Wednesday - January 23, 2008.

To everyone who inquired about my saxophone after the airing of my ‘craigslist’ piece…I’m about to make a public apology.
I’m sorry. I know I said I was selling it but I have reneged. I am, in fact, keeping the saxophone. For a few reasons.
Reason Number One to Keep My Saxophone: I have a lovely new loft studio where I can honk and hoot to my heart’s delight.
Reason Number Two to Keep My Saxophone: I’m taking a wonderful pop culture and music course at Ryerson where I’m learning about the roots of jazz and getting super excited. Thanks Paul!
Reason Number Three to Keep My Saxophone: The theme from “Charlie Brown Christmas.” Vince Guaraldi’s “Christmas Time is Here” just sounds so damn good on my alto, Christmas is around the corner, and… well… that’s it.
But it was fantastic to hear from you all so by all means… keep those cards and letters coming!! ![]()
Cheers,
Roz
If you’ve ever tried to sell anything on craigslist you’ll get a kick out of my latest CBC Radio piece.
